Ancestries

Since neither race or class will be used as a game mechanic… it has to be primarily about story.

There are many races in Sgova, from many different worlds. Much more so in the past 30 years – strangers to Sgova continue to appear from portals which have randomly opened from other far off worlds.

As the memory of many things and of the names of things were lost by the Shiften, the names in use today are unique.

Berenborn (Humans)
Eldenborn (Elves)
Arvenborn (Dwarves)
Folkenborn (Halflings, Hobbits)
Seelienborn (Fae, Gnomes)
Furrenborn (Tabaxi, etc)
Wingenborn (Owlin, bird folk)
Jigrenborn (Giants, Goliath, ogre)
Scalenborn (Kobold, dragonborn etc)
Gobbenborn (Bugbears, goblins, hobgoblins)

The idea of ‘pure blooded’ ancestry has largely been lost. It is generally understood that all peoploids share a common ancestry and that within any particular ancestry, one may be more or less distinct… so then both an elf and a half-elf are equally Eldenborn. Some may be considered Berenborn when they actually have some genetic lineage with elves or dwarves or halflings…
